Barcelona are a step closer to completing a deal for Rayo Vallecano teenager Fabian Luzzi.

Barcelona are inching closer to the capture of Rayo Vallecano teenager Fabian Luzzi, reports claim. The talented 16-year-old has been training with his club’s first team during the second half of the season.

Luzzi, who turned 16 in May, is considered to be one of Spain’s brightest talents having made four appearances for the nation’s Under-16 squad.

The centre-forward scored a brace during December’s 3-3 international friendly draw against England and was twice an unused substitute for Rayo Vallecano’s senior side for Copa del Rey fixtures with Barakaldo and Villarreal.

And his progression hasn’t gone unnoticed with Spanish heavyweights Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all vying for his services, according to Marca.

However, Quique Setien’s side, who now trail Zinedine Zidane’s on goal difference after Saturday’s goalless draw with Sevilla, are close to winning the battle.

Spanish newspaper La Razon claim Luzzi’s parents will travel to Barcelona to formalise the transfer.

Luzzi would represent the second player Barcelona have pinched from Rayo Vallecano in recent months.

The Catalan giants signed 22-year-old left-back Sergio Akieme in September 2019 for a paltry £270,000.

Akieme has since made 24 appearances for Barcelona B, providing five assists.

And his displays clearly impressed the club with manager Setien naming him among the substitutes for their Champions League clash with Napoli and La Liga tie with Eibar.

It’s also suggested that Vallecano’s 20-year-old centre-back Martin Pascual is on the Catalan giants’ radar having scouted him numerous times this season.

Pascual has made 11 appearances for the club in all competitions.

And looks to have a bright future, but could be available on a free transfer with his contract set to expire on June 30.
