‘Yeah that fight’s happening’ – Dana White confirms Israel Adesanya will face Paulo Costa for UFC middleweight title

Israel Adesanya will defend his UFC middleweight title against Paulo Costa, according to Dana White.

The UFC president has already delivered a stacked summer schedule of fights for fans in the midst of a global pandemic.

Justin Gaethje propelled himself into lightweight title contention with a savage beating of Tony Ferguson at UFC 249, while the bantamweight division exploded into life at UFC Las Vegas.

And it seems as though the middleweight division will now also be on the move with Adesanya set to defend his title.

In an interview with media before UFC on ESPN 11, White promised an ‘awesome’ August fight schedule and admitted the 185lbs-division was getting a huge title fight.

“August is insane and then you know how that usually works out as we end the year going into the fall. There’s always killer fights going into the fall, too.

“So, I mean with all the madness that’s going on in this world right now. This thing is good right now. Everything is so good right now in the UFC world.”

When probed about the Adesanya vs Costa fight, White replied: “Oh yeah! That fight’s happening.”

Adesanya defeated Yoel Romero back in March, largely due to the fact Costa was ruled out due to a bicep injury. It will be the first time two undefeated fighters have ever fought for a UFC title in history.
