Roger Federer was made to wait for Novak Djokovic in the build-up to their ATP Finals clash.

World No 3 Federer was first out of the changing rooms but was made to wait in a corridor at London’s O2 Arena.

The time he was stood in the tunnel on his own was only minimal but tennis pundit Greg Rusedski hints that Djokovic did so on purpose.

“He is showing him early on who is the boss and making sure his preparations are just right,” Rusedski told Amazon Prime.

“It is a bit unusual seeing Federer coming out first on this court being a six-time champion.”

Federer and Djokovic are competing for a place in the ATP Finals semi-finals.

Both stars lost to Dominic Thiem in the group stages so only a win will ensure progression to the next round.

Federer is the underdog heading into their 49th career meeting as he lost to the Serbian in the Wimbledon final this summer.

But the 38-year-old claims those mental scars are now well behind him

“I think it’s all flushed away from my side,” he said. “A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then now.

“We have played a lot of matches since, and I think we both look back at a great match.
