WWE: Brock Lesnar should stay away from Drew McIntyre

At WWE WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar to become the WWE Champion. There have been reported rumors indicating that WWE is planning a WWE Championship rematch between McIntyre and Lesnar.

With rumored reports indicating that Brock Lesnar will return for a WWE Championship rematch against Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam 2020, there is a slight feeling that McIntyre’s reign could be in jeopardy in August.

That rematch is not necessary and Lesnar should stay away from McIntyre by any means necessary. He did his part by putting McIntyre over as an unstoppable WWE Champion and his days of being in the title picture should be numbered by now.

Although Brock Lesnar has put over some of the top superstars in the WWE today, he has also been booked to hinder the momentum of some rising superstars, such as Braun Strowman, Mustafa Ali, and Kofi Kingston.

He was unnecessarily booked to defeat Braun Strowman in three separate Universal Championship matches, win the MITB Ladder Match at Mustafa Ali’s expense, and end Kofi Kingston’s six-month WWE Championship reigns in a record eight seconds.

The WWE should not make the same mistake with McIntyre. Instead of battling McIntyre in a championship rematch, Lesnar should be going to war with other top superstars in non-title matches that could take them to the next level.

As a tweener, Lesnar should be a stepping stone for talented babyfaces and heels who are currently stuck in the mid card and need a ‘rub’ or even a victory over the Beast Incarnate to enter or reenter the main event scene.

Superstars that instantly come to mind are Raw’s Bobby Lashley, Aleister Black, and Kevin Owens. These are three superstars who are currently stuck in the mid card and have not yet received a significant run with the WWE Championship but desperately need that position and more importantly that exposure.

While Lashley is the only superstar out of these three who has been asking for a big match with Lesnar, Black and Owens need that match just as much.

Lashley and Owens are established stars who should always be in the WWE Championship conversation or at least be booked in a top feud on Raw, not relegated to the United States Championship picture with Apollo Crews, who just got his foot in the water.

Meanwhile, Black is a tad out-of-place in the Rollins-Mysterio storyline because his character does not justify any motivation to help Mysterio and he should be running solo regardless.

These are superstars who need a match with Lesnar, not Drew McIntyre. McIntyre’s momentum, popularity, and credibility already benefitted from a WrestleMania main event victory over Lesnar.

He should be battling someone new at WWE SummerSlam 2020, like a top heel in Randy Orton, who was actually booked in a top feud on Raw against Edge and has gained sufficient momentum to battle for the WWE Championship and put McIntyre over as the top babyface on Raw.
